About the psychiatrist
Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi (MBBS, MRCPsych, FAMS) is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than a decade of clinical experience in mental health. He focuses his care on adolescent youth, adult and elderly populations.

He manages a variety of general psychiatric disorders from stress-related disorders and burnout, to neuro-developmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and psychotic disorders.
​
He also has interest forensic psychiatric work, where he conducts psychiatric evaluations for the Court's benefit and supports the medicolegal needs of patients through Lasting Power of Attorney and Mental Capacity assessments.
​
As part of his specialist training and accreditation, he has trained in restructured hospitals across all three national healthcare clusters. He was formerly a Visiting Consultant at the Institute of Mental Health in Departments of General & Forensic Psychiatry, and Consultant Psychiatrist at the Singapore Armed Forces.
Locally, he is a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine (Singapore). He holds international memberships with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

The patient's needs will be foremost in the consultation. Beyond a listening ear and understanding concerns, the patient will be an active participant in the care journey with the psychiatrist.

The approach to care is intended to be collaborative; not only with the patient and family members, but also existing care providers including general practitioners, family physicians, psychologists and lawyers.
Confidentiality
Except on issues of safety or when legally required, patient confidentiality is sacrosanct. This forms the basis of trust in the doctor-patient relationship.
